Rangoli is 51 years old, she deserves to live her remaining years free from torture.

Thousands of elephants are being cruelly abused and exploited, all to entertain holidaymakers.

Behind the romanticised facade presented to tourists at venues where they are forced to perform tricks, let people touch, wash and take photos with them or give rides to tourists, elephants are overworked and exhausted. Many of them are sick and suffering from injuries that are left untreated, their wounds hidden from sight by their costumes.

This isn’t tourism, this is torture.

The 82 elephants at Amer Fort live a brutal existence giving rides to tourists. They work all day every day and can carry loads of up to 250kg. It’s crushingly painful, back breaking work in heat that can exceed 40-degrees, along busy roads with scorching tarmac burning their feet. At night they’ll be chained up and forced to stand. Then the tortuous day starts again. Every step, every single day is pure agony for them.

With your support, we can work with the industry, governments and communities to bring an end to the torture of these beautiful animals and give them a life free from suffering. We have already helped so many elephants that were trapped in the tourist industry, transforming two tourism venues into elephant friendly sanctuaries. But many more still need our help.
