Witness the incredible feat of animal lovers who conquered the ultimate challenge—the London Marathon. Join them in celebrating their bravery and dedication to making a difference for animals.
Speeding around a course of 26.2 miles, Team World Animal Protection raised an incredible £18,000 to help protect animals. Thank you, you fantastic marathon marvels. You’re amazing.
Ash Boorman is a 36-year-old personal trainer who finished his first marathon in a mind- blowing 4 hours 22 minutes. Cheered on by friends and family, Ash never dreamed he would be able to do a marathon but enjoyed every single moment of the race, and was over the moon with his time.
He says, “Sunday was an amazing experience that I’ll never, ever forget!”
Congratulations, Ash!
Alice Radford is a 32-year-old first time marathon runner who ran in loving memory of her sister Sarah, a passionate advocate for animal welfare. Clocking a remarkable race time of 4 hours 30 minutes, Alice was cheered on by her partner Lauren and dog, Arlo, who pushed her through a particularly brutal last six miles.
Alice says, “thank you so much to World Animal Protection for all your wonderful support on the day - it really does make all the difference.”
Well done, Alice!
Forty-five-year-old Claire Smart, an expert in renewable energy, used the support of her family, friends and World Animal Protection staff to give her the fuel she needed to finish, despite a hip injury. Unbelievably, Claire completed the course in six hours - an utterly amazing achievement.
Claire says, “thank you for letting me run for you again, it was absolutely brilliant!!!”
Brilliant work yourself, Claire!
Our very own Miranda Holmes is a key member of our Supporter Care team at World Animal Protection who was inspired to run because she loves the work we do for animals.
Multiple marathon runner Miranda flew over the finish line in 6 hours 14 minutes, her phenomenal time a testament to all the efforts she makes to challenge herself and protect animals around the world with all her fundraising efforts.
Miranda says, “the race was quite tough, but seeing the World Animal Protection cheer squad in bright orange wigs really made me smile. I got a huge boost to get to the Mall!”
We’re so proud of you Miranda, and all our fantastic finishers from Team World Animal Protection. Bravo!
