Festive vegan foods at UK supermarkets

Are you cutting down on meat and dairy this festive season? Well, you’re in luck, as there have never been more tasty plant-based foods to choose from at the supermarket.

Whether you are already vegan, looking to go plant-based this Christmas or just want to switch out some parts of your Christmas dinner to meat and dairy free options, there’s a real variety of products available.

Here, we've rounded up the top plant-based festive foods that can be found in your local big brand supermarkets so you can plan your compassionate Christmas feast with ease.
 

WAITROSE

For the main event, Waitrose has the No 1 Ultimate Plant-Based Festive Sharing Wellington - a mushroom duxelle with plant based beef braised in a fragrant shallot, garlic and thyme vegetable stock, and Plantliving Chestnut & Thyme Plant Based Turkey Roast, Gravy and Festive Sides, which comes with Party Plant Pigs in Blankets as an extra treat. There are also a wide variety of vegan-friendly starters and party foods including a 22 Piece PlantLiving Festive Cocktail Sausage Selection, PlantLiving: No Duck Spring Rolls and Vegan Pie Selection.

Sainsbury’s have a range of plant-based Christmas food on offer this year, for the main they have a mushroom and soya protein based No Turkey Crown with Sage & Onion Melts, a Three Nut Roast served with a spiced orange and cranberry glaze and a Maple Parsnip & Chestnut Wreath, and from their Plant Pioneers range, a Festive Chestnut Roast and Meat Free Wellington. Their festive snacks and sides include Pups in Blankets, Sage & Onion Stuffing Balls, Bao's of Holly (steamed bao buns filled with mixed vegetables and decorated with coloured dough pieces) and Vegetable Spring Roll Selection.

For an extra indulgence, try their Free From Iced Mince Pies and Taste the Difference Freefrom Salted Caramel Chocs, and don't forget the all-important Christmas pudding - a vegan option is available from their Plant Pioneers range.

TESCO

Tesco's plant-powered Christmas range contains lots of tasty delights, including the Wicked Kitchen No Turkey Roast Crown, Tesco Plant Chef Mushroom & Chestnut Festive Wreath and Tesco Finest Roasted Butternut Squash, Spinach & Sage Galette. For puddings and sweets why not try the Stem Ginger Tiffin Cracker, Free From 12 Tiffin Selection Box and Chocolate Christmas Trees. They also have some delicious party snack options, such as the Olive & Antipasti Party Platter, Sesame Coated Vegetable Spring Rolls, Tesco Finest Mushroom Steamed Buns, Spiced Vegetable Samosas and Samosa Platter. 

MARKS AND SPENCER

For this year's main course from M&S you have the choice of the Vegan Turkey Roast or the Butternut, Almond & Pecan Nut Roast, not forgetting Vegan Pigs in Blankets, Plant Kitchen Vegan Gravy and Triple Cooked Roast Potatoes as the perfect accompaniments!

ALDI

Aldi have a wide selection of plant-based mains this year, so you're spoilt for choice. These are their options: Vegan Festive Wreath, No Beef Wellington, Melting Centre Nut Roasts, Festive Vegetable Wellington, No Turkey Crown With A Cranberry & Chestnut Stuffing, No Gammon Joint and Vegan Camembert Nut Roasts.

They also have a great range of festive snacks – such as the Let's Party Garlic Doughball Christmas Tree, Ultimate No Pigs In Blankets, Sweet Potato & Butternut Squash Rostis, The Deli Snacking Platter, Southern Fried No Chicken Stars, No Duck Spring Rolls and No Pork BBQ Bon Bons.
