New Labour government must tackle animal exploitation and factory farming

News

Following the election result, the Labour party is set to form the new UK government.

Labour's manifesto includes plans to implement improvements for animals, address water pollution, and support British farming while prioritising environmental protection. This is a huge opportunity to make a real difference for animal welfare across our nation.

Polling in 2022 revealed that 72% of the voting public would like to see the UK Government pass more laws designed to improve animal welfare and protect animals from cruelty - we hope the Labour government listens to the public.

Peter Kemple Hardy. World Animal Protection UK, Campaigns Director said:

World Animal Protection UK were delighted to see that the Labour Party Manifesto included a range of urgently needed and robust measures to protect animals and we look forward to working with them.

Our appalling mistreatment of wild animals and the unprecedented scale of factory farming has caused a deepening crisis, which affects us all and our planet. We urge the government to take ambitious action; by ending the brutal exploitation of wild animals for profit and ensuring nature-friendly farming is at the heart of a humane and sustainable food system.

There is a deepening crisis facing animals around the world, which affects every single one of us and our planet. The Labour government must now face the challenge of addressing the issues of corporate greed and industrial-scale cruelty towards animals.
