George Satchwell from Somerset

A tribute to legacy giver George

Blog

George left £2,500 in his will to support our continuing the fight for animals.

George’s daughter Claire shares memories of her father’s passion for wildlife, and why leaving a gift to our organisation was so important to him.

Our father's legacy gift to World Animal Protection came as no surprise as he was always interested in conservation and wildlife. In fact, I would say that he has passed that passion down to me and my brother. Holidays with him over the years included whale and dolphin watching on the Azores, sub-aqua diving in the Mediterranean, and birdwatching on the Isle of Mull.”

Dad was a GP (General Practitioner) as was his own father before him. He was also a very talented jazz pianist, entirely self-taught. Once he retired, he enjoyed travelling and spending a lot of time in his half acre of land, where he  created a small woodland.”

He felt it was very important to try to preserve the environment for the future and help support organisations; locally, nationally and even internationally.

He kept very much up to date with domestic and world affairs and was particularly interested in anything wildlife-related. He also subscribed to a number of different magazines and journals, and would regularly cut articles out to send to us!
